Flat Earth, featuring ex-members of HIM and Amorphis, have released their first single “Blame” ahead of their debut album “None For One”which should be released in November 2018, also on Drakkar Entertainment (in Europe, excluding Finland). Their creative vision is to bring together elements of the heyday of alternative rock while seamlessly incorporating other genres and influences.
The song opens with a simple melody played through once on a keyboard before the rest of the band blasts in, repeating the theme with a much fuller sound. It’s a gentle and melodic track, with a characteristically Scandinavian feel, very much in the alternative rock genre, throwing in a few heavier, chugging riffs here and there. The guitar solo is fun and suitably widdly, and entirely in keeping with the piece.
Could these guys become the Finnish Stone Sour? It’s entirely possible. I’m looking forward to hearing whatever comes next from these guys.
